Sato Player Summer ’26 Update: A Comprehensive Guide to What’s New and What to Look Forward

We’ve come a long way since Sato Player was a simple visual editor that played videos through third-party URLs. Last year (Winter 2025 update) we launched the video library and all of you could store and stream directly from the dashboard. But there were storage limits we put in place, while we were figuring out what storage, streaming and associated costs meant for you and us. 

After our major update in Sato 2.0 (April 2026) that enhanced the player’s customization capabilities and added features for video marketing teams, we are now ready to roll out the Summer 2026 update. This update brings transparency to your bandwidth and storage usage while keeping the provision for adding more of those without having to switch to a higher tier. Let’s look at what this update includes.

Video upload count

We have removed video upload counts for Pro and Advanced tiers. So, you can now upload any number of videos as long as the storage is not exhausted. Having no video upload count opens up the unused storage for you to utilize for more video storage.

Earlier you could upload only 25 videos on Pro plan and 50 videos on Advanced. But now as long as you have available space, you can keep uploading videos.

No maximum video upload size

Like video upload limits, we have removed the maximum video file size limit for Pro and Advanced plans. This gives you the freedom to upload MP4 files of any size as long as you have adequate storage space in your video library. 

Usage meters

Given the change in what storage space and bandwidth now means, we have changed the usage meters on the dashboard to reflect your available and used up storage/bandwidth clearly.

The meters will show what percentage of your available storage and bandwidth has been consumed.

Monthly Bandwidth 

Each of our plans will come with fixed free monthly bandwidth. This means you do not have to pay for bandwidth until the provided quota is exhausted. This bandwidth quota replenishes every month as per the plan you are on.

In case you exhaust the provided bandwidth, you can top up your plan with bandwidth add-on. This additional bandwidth is a one-time purchase and is not charged monthly. This means you only pay when you exhaust the available bandwidth slab. At the end of the month, this add-on is carried over while the plan’s free bandwidth limit replenishes.

Add-ons

Add-ons let you add more storage and bandwidth based on your requirement instead of switching to a higher tier at any point of time. Because each Sato Player comes with feature sets meant for different sets of users, instead of switching to a plan with features you do not need, you can stay on the existing plan while topping up only what you need, when you need it.

Starter Plan

Summer 2026 update does not apply to any user in our free forever ‘Starter’plan. As a free user, you can keep using Sato Player on your websites as per the bandwidth limits for the plan. In case you need more bandwidth and storage, you can move to Pro or Advanced and enjoy all premium features.

As the Summer 2026 update rolls out, our tech efforts will be directed towards bringing exciting new customization and video marketing features. 

As we go on, we will keep pushing minor updates to optimize the player to best suit your needs. We will also be available in your favorite plugin and app marketplaces of no-code site builders. While we are available on Framer, we are building plugins for Canva, Wix and Wordpress. We are also working on exciting integrations with popular CRM tools.
