Can I use VideoJS as a beginner?

To answer this question, we will make two assumptions. The first assumption is about you being a beginner programmer. And the second assumption is that you are trying to add a video player on one of your sites/projects.  If these assumptions are correct, we will have to create two categories:

1.       You want to learn using VideoJS,

2.       You want a fast solution to the problem of adding a video player on your site/project

If you are someone who fall in the first category, we suggest you go to this amazing resource that VideoJS already has. This comes straight from the brilliant team behind VideoJS and is pretty simply put for programmers at all levels to follow through.

Now, if you are in the second category, i.e. you want a fast solution to add a video player on a site/project you are working on, we have an alternative for you.

The beginner’s problem with using VideoJS

You might be a beginner programmer or a no-code dev and want videos to play on a website you’ve built. Using VideoJS can be time-consuming if time is a factor for you. You will need considerable technical expertise. It is an open-source library and framework but it is not a quick fix. As a beginner, you will have to set up and manage your own storage and hosting. And for customizations, you will have to rely mostly on your coding knowledge. There is a steep learning curve for no-code or beginner developers and pushes them towards simpler alternatives like using a video player embed.

The problem with using stock video player embeds on your website

When the complexity of VideoJS pushes you to using player embeds like YouTube, the whole point of having a custom video player goes out of the equation. The website you built will surely have a video player and videos will be stored and hosted on YouTube but you will compromise on the uniqueness of the player. If you don’t care about a customized interface for the video player, you are all set with a solution like YouTube. But if you really need a customized video player interface with options to add your own brand colors and assets, you will need a custom HTML5 video player, and in your case, a no-code HTML5 video player.

Beginner and no-code developers must use Sato video player, but why?

Sato is a no-code HTML5 video player made for no-code and beginner developers. It is simple to customize and embed. On top of that, it has cloud storage and hosting, which reduces the effort of managing too many moving pieces. It is compatible with all no-code development platforms that support embeds and iframes and we’ve tried providing step-by-step tutorials for using Sato.

For the cost-side of things, while we are not as free as open-source tools, we have a free forever plan that lets you upload 10 video of 200mb each. You can create unlimited unique video players in this free plan. As of the publication of this article, we are available on our official website and on the Webflow app marketplace. We hope to be soon up on major no-code marketplaces. Regardless of that, you can still use the embed URL and code snippet to add the unique custom video player you build on Sato to any website.

Give it a try. We hope it will save your time and effort.
